DZEKO COMPLETES ROMA SWITCH

Confirmed: Edin Dzeko joins Roma on loan

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has joined Italian giants Roma on a season-long loan deal, with the option of making it permanent for the Serie A side.

Dzeko joined the Citizens back in 2011 from Wolfsburg, after making a big impression in the Bundesliga where he spent four years with the club.
The 29-year-old Bosnia international has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad since Roberto Mancini left the club, with the forward not deemed the ideal striker for them under the stewardship of Pellegrini.

Sergio Aguero has usually led the line during Pellegrini’s reign, with Dzeko restricted to a spot on the bench for large parts of previous campaigns.
The forward will now move to Italy to link up with Rudi Garcia’s side as he starts his new journey in the Italian capital – a move which will be seen as a shrewd one by the Serie A giants.
Dzeko scored 50 league goals across his four years with Manchester City, but managed just four in 22 league games last season for the Citizens.
The forward managed 90 minutes on just two occasions for Pellegrini’s men, which highlighted how much the Chilean opted for others against the striker.
Edin Dzeko registered just two Premier League assists last season - the worst on average of any regular Manchester City striker.

With Wilfried Bony now at the club and young Enes Unal coming in, competition was becoming rife once again for Dzeko and he will now be hoping to make an impression in Italy.
